THANKSGIVING

THANKSGIV'ING, ppr. Rendering thanks for good received. THANKSGIV'ING, n. The act of rendering thanks or expressing gratitude for favors or mercies. Every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if received with thanksgiving. 1 Tim 4. 1. The practice of appointing an annual thanksgiving originated in New England.

Philippians 4:6-8

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Labor to acquire thanksgiving toward God for everything, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you, and then you will find peace. St. Barsanuphius
